RUBBERY:In an Imo community where seven people died, two robbers were slain

Two alleged armed robbers were shot and killed by an unnamed inspector of the Imo State Police Command in the Orogwe community of the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state. On Monday night, unidentified gunmen broke into the Orogwe settlement, where they killed seven people, injured six others, and stole a car.

The dead thieves' remains have been placed in a morgue, according to a statement made on Thursday in Owerri by the police spokesperson for the command, Micheal Abattam. He gave the assurance that the state's police were devoted to catching the offenders and securing the state.

The following was stated in the statement: "On August 4, at approximately 02:22 hrs., armed bandits in their numbers, invaded the home of a Police Inspector attached to one of the formations in the Command; the bandits who jumped the perimeter wall fence into the compound at Aforukwu, Orogwe in Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State, rushed to the flat of the Police Inspector, destroyed the iron burglary protector and front door, entered inside the flat, but were taken A police officer gave a hot pursuit to the hoodlums as they fled for cover after being startled and confused by the staccato sound coming from the police officer's rifle.

One of them was killed there, and others fled into the nearby bushes where they were killed. The police inspector was unyielding. He immediately informed the Ogbaku Divisional Police Officer, who rapidly mobilized and arrived on the scene.

When they arrived, they took up a professional and strategic position and searched the nearby bushes, finding a body, two locally produced pistols, and an Identity Card. The retrieved identity card belonged to a bandit who was neutralized by the name of Chukwuemzie Chukwu "m," an electrician from Atta in Imo State's Ikeduru Local Government Area.

In a building at Orogwe in the Owerri West LGA of Imo State that belonged to one Sir Chima Ogbuehi, who lives in Lagos, a few days prior, at approximately 200 hours, the same bandits arrived on a black Lexus Jeep with no identification number and three motorcycles carrying two people each.

They shot and killed seven people and injured six others. Coincidentally, the Police Inspector resides only a pole away from the location of the last attack. While coordinated attempts are being made to apprehend the other bandits who escaped, the two corpses have been transported and placed at the Federal Medical Center, Owerri.

Because of the varying degrees of bullet injuries they sustained, they are unable to travel very far.
