Ogun governor asks security agencies to alter their strategies

The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has stated that the trend of banditry, abduction, insurgency, and other forms of criminality in the nation can only be reversed by the security services adopting a new strategy. Abiodun gave a speech on Thursday at his Oke Mosan Office in Abeokuta as he greeted Niyi Ajibola, the new State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.

He asserted that security authorities must devise comprehensive and effective strategies for dealing with the issue. "Ogun is a unique state in terms of geography," he declared. We share borders with four states in addition to a global border.

As the nation's industrial center, we give assisting security organizations first attention. The emphasis on security is because there are many individuals traveling throughout the state. The governor claimed that maintaining security required not just supplying the necessary weapons but also ensuring the officers' and soldiers' welfare.

The relative calm in the state, he continued, was due to cooperation between the various security agencies. He said that by creating the Amotekun Corps to support federal security agencies, the state has responded to security concerns over the last three years.

He declared, "We cannot afford the breakdown of law and order that will endanger the state's commonwealth. Ajibola stated in his earlier remarks that his goal was to assist the administration in carrying out its plans and programs by guaranteeing proper security throughout the state.

Ajibola, who bemoaned the rise in cult activities in the state, promised to help the government combat the problem with the help of the corps' Counter Terrorists Unit.
