Former legislator emerges Enugu gov candidate

On Thursday, Hon. Chijoke Edeoga, a former chairman of the House Committee on Information of the House of Representatives, won the Labour Party's governorship primary election in Enugu State. With a total of 81 votes, Edeoga, the only candidate in the primary held at the Top 10 Hotel in GRA, Enugu, won.

The results of the primary were announced by Prince Kennedy Chigozie Ahanudu, who is also the chairman of the Enugu State Governorship Electoral Committee and the Deputy National Secretary. 85 delegates in total were accredited for the primary election, he stated. A total of 81 delegates cast ballots for Hon.

Chijoke Edeoga out of the 85 total. By virtue of the authority vested in me as the chairman of the Enugu State Governorship Electoral Committee, Kennedy Chigozie Ahanudu declared Hon. Chijoke Edeoga the winner of the Labour Party Governorship Primary election in Enugu State.

He received the highest number of votes cast. The party's former governorship candidate, Mr. Casmir Agbo, withdrew from the contest, prompting the primary election. The election was held because, despite the fact that there was only one candidate in the primary, the party would not impose him on the party, Ahanudu had earlier warned the delegates.

We won't force anyone on you, we promise. Therefore, whoever the delegates chose as governor today will be our pick, he said. In his acceptance speech, Edeoga thanked the party for helping him realize his aim of liberating the Enugu people from political swindlers and for giving him access to its platform.

He vowed not to disappoint the gathering. "I am resolved to put the Labour Party in all the wards in Enugu State," the governor candidate declared. The Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State will be meticulously and methodically destroyed by me.

If anyone in Enugu State can achieve it, it would be me. I am capable of doing that and have the necessary knowledge. I was a founding member of the PDP, and we never intended for it to denigrate the Igbo people.

I was close to the PDP's founding members. "We're going to assist the PDP in tearing down all of its Enugu State infrastructure. "I can guarantee you that your support for me was not in vain. I was dispatched to the market by you, and I won't come back empty-handed.
