The crisis in the African Democratic Congress, ADC,took a different turn today April 13 as a faction of the party in Adamawa state suspended former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. 

 

The chairman of the ADC faction in the state, Raji Sulaiman Zumo, announced the suspension at a meeting with other excos of his faction of the party.<br><br><br>

 

The faction also announced it had suspended former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal.

 

The party is currently in crisis as a faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe is laying claim to the position of national chairman of the party.<br><br><br>

 

The development prompted the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to derecognize the leadership of the ADC under former Senate President David Mark.
