Politics: Drama as Senator Ndume blasts Tinubu.

Read here: Senator Ndume Warns Tinubu: Fix Nigeria or Risk Mass Exodus from APC Senator Ali Ndume, a senior lawmaker representing Borno South, has warned President Bola Tinubu to urgently address Nigeria’s worsening political and economic climate or risk a major fallout within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senator, a vocal party stalwart, threatened to exit the party if the administration fails to course-correct. In a televised interview, Ndume expressed conditional support for the president, stressing that while he believes Tinubu still has the capacity to deliver good governance, the window for change is closing.

Ndume sharply criticized the influx of defections into the APC, warning that the party risks implosion under the weight of opportunistic entrants who lack ideological grounding. He likened the party to a ship taking on too much weight, saying it may soon capsize if urgent reforms are not made.

The senator also lamented the decline of the National Assembly's independence, accusing it of serving merely as a rubber stamp for the executive rather than fulfilling its constitutional duty as a check on power. He added that Nigeria’s leadership has grown increasingly disconnected from public expectations and has failed to properly engage on key issues such as insecurity, economic hardship, and regional diplomacy.

Addressing foreign policy, Ndume criticized Tinubu’s leadership of ECOWAS, saying the administration missed critical opportunities to resolve tensions in West African countries like Niger and Burkina Faso, leading to worsening instability along Nigeria’s borders.

While maintaining his current affiliation with the APC, Ndume noted that his loyalty is contingent on meaningful reform.

He also reaffirmed his support for former Minister Rotimi Amaechi, whom he described as a principled leader with the vision to lead Nigeria. Responding to critics who dismissed him as politically isolated, Ndume insisted he remains guided by conscience and national interest, declaring that he would continue to speak out, even if it means standing alone.
