When I first started in Nollywood, I was very young. Many people didn’t take me seriously because I looked small and didn’t know much. I felt lost sometimes. I needed someone to show me the way, to believe in me when I didn’t even fully believe in myself.
That person was Mommy Mercy Johnson.
She took me in like her own little sister. She didn’t just teach me how to act, she taught me how to carry myself with grace and confidence. She corrected me with love, showed me how to speak in movies, and how to behave respectfully on set. Sometimes, she would even buy food for me and check if I was okay.
She stood by me when others turned their backs. She made me feel seen, loved, and safe. I’m where I am today because someone chose to care.
Thank you, Mommy Mercy. I’ll never forget your love and kindness. You helped me become who I am today.
