Fr. Jude Muokwe Is What A Priest Should Never Be!
The news of a teacher at Angels Primary School, Ifitedunu, being brutally flogged by Rev. Fr. Jude Muokwe, has left me utterly dismayed and disgusted. As a staunch Catholic, I am appalled by the actions of a priest who is supposed to embody the values of compassion, empathy and kindness.

Fr. Muokwe's behavior is a stark contradiction to the principles of the Catholic Church. His actions are not only unbecoming of a priest but also a betrayal of the trust and respect that the faithful have for their spiritual leaders.
The fact that he is a missionary priest of St. Paul (MSP) makes his actions even more reprehensible.
What is even more disturbing is that the teacher he flogged is old enough to be his mother, just because he perceived the woman organised a meeting with fellow teachers for a possible increase of their monthly salaries.
This is not just a case of physical abuse to a widow, but also a blatant display of disrespect and disregard for human dignity. One cannot help but wonder what kind of example Fr. Muokwe is setting for his congregation and the students under his care.
What a pity!
It is even ironic that Fr. Muokwe, who according to findings, hails from Aguluezechukwu in Aguata LGA, and recently returned from abroad where he went for studies, one would expect his experience abroad would have broadened his perspective and made him more cooperative and empathetic.
Instead, it seems that he has returned with a warped sense of authority and a disregard for human rights.
As a Catholic, I am ashamed of Fr. Muokwe's actions. His behavior is a stain on the reputation of the Catholic Church and a betrayal of the trust that the faithful have placed in him.
I demand that the Local Ordinary of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor, takes immediate action to address this matter, not just that, ensure that justice is served, also take concrete steps to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
